How to Properly Clean Storm Windows

To make sure that your storm windows would always be effective in providing you the protection you need and that they would last for a long time, it is advisable to clean them regularly. You can clean storm windows when they are in place, although it would be a lot safer and easier if you would be uninstalling them first.

Once you have removed your storm windows, here are the steps that you follow to properly clean them.

1. Using a broom with a long handle, wipe away any dirt, leaves and cobwebs.

2. Mix some water, vinegar, cornstarch and ammonia in bowl. Make sure to mix it until the cornstarch has completely dissolved in the solution. After mixing, pour the solution into a spray bottle.

3. Place the windows against a wall so that they are positioned at an angle. This would make them easier to clean.

4. Spray some of the cleaning solution on one side and using a clean piece of cloth or towel, wipe it vertically until it is completely dry.

5. You can then turn the window over to the other side and then spray some of the cleaning solution on it. Using another piece of clean cloth, wipe the other side horizontally.

6. Do this for all of your storm windows. Allow them to dry and check for any streaks. If there are still some streaks, you can just repeat the cleaning process. Once all of your storm windows are clean, you can then reinstall them.

By following these simple steps, you should be able to clean your storm windows properly. However, if you have storm windows which are hard to remove or uninstall, you can consider cleaning them in place or hiring professional window cleaners who can remove and clean them for you. You may also need to replace your storm prevention windows also periodically.
